macdunk,
Ya gotta have eaves! They help stop the rain from
being blown up hill. Mine are 900mm.
Ya need a longrun roof with a decent pitch with
none of those gaps under tiles to let the water be blown up hill. I replaced my
old Decramastic with longrun.
Ya need some continuous heavy building paper under
the roof too. I put the best breather paper under my new longrun.
I got the brick veneer mate. Unfortunately
the stupid clown who built it didn't put extra wall insulation in (before the
regs )
I just added an upper level and I used PVC
weatherboard. Great stuff. And I put in 200mm high flashings and even that may
not totally prevent moisture under a good blow. But its better than the 100mm
that I could have got away with.
And a point about these Master Builders and their
big advertising campaign on the TV.
They will bend just the same as any of their
unassociated mates if they have to to make a sale.
