[sharechat] Where the banks pulling the stings behind the Ansett deal?
Nearly everybody under the sun has been blamed for the demise of Ansett.
The directors seem to taking most of the blame and at the end of the day
they should.
But are they only pawns in a bigger game? - the game being played with the
banks.
After all the banks provided the funds for this ego trip and need to take
some of the blame as well.
The banks who could (and probably will) take a bath as a result of all this
are apparently the ANZ and NAB.
Incestuous lot those on the airline and banking boards.
Charles Goode is Air New Zealand Director and Chairman of ANZ and SIA
Margaret Jackson is Qantas Chair and ANZ Director
Gary Toomey is ANZ Director and CEO of Air New Zealand (and ex Qantas
employee)
Rod Eddington is Qantas Director and is also on News Corp Board (and was CEO
for Ansett for three years)
Charles Goode is also apparently good mates (or can influence) with John
Howard. In his role as Chairman of Woodside the Shell deal ran into problems
of a political kind.
Must have been some interesting conversations that took place in different
boardrooms recently.
And this does not even mention the BIL and Air connections
Who were really pulling the strings?
But sadly it is all the small shareholders who have really missed out badly
in this whole debacle
