No one took me up on my previous posting on this subject maybe you are all 
more concerned with the market nose-dive but just a word to anyone 
upgrading or buying new.

You can save quite an amount of money if you avoid the latest Pentium XXX 
and instead go for a Celeron say 500Mhz - these are made by Intel and have 
a slightly lower spec. but you won't be able to tell the difference in your 
machines performance for all the standard operations. The mother board 
itself is important as there are new features on the latest boards 
including video, sound and the serial/parallel ports which used to be 
separate plug-ins, but the processor itself is an expensive item and this 
is where you can save. Pays to have at least 64Mb of  memory though as this 
is important for good performance with modern software.
