[sharechat] SPE - Some options already converted

Question

This from Spectrum in the announcements from 10/8

ALLOT: SPE: ALLOTMENT OF ADDITIONAL SECURITIES
Spectrum Resources allotted 45,141 ordinary shares of 8cps on 02/08/00, pursuant to the exercise of options.

Am I right in reading that someone with options has given over the mulla to convert these to head shares. If so, why would you do this with the head share currently languishing in the mid 4s ?
