[sharechat] AIA
Makes a change to see some discussion on stocks other than the techos.
I believe that Christine Fletcher's influence on the Auckland City
Council will ensure that Councillors think positively for the benefit
of Auckland city in their decision-making. There is a buyer on tap for
the Council's shares and not to sell would probably necessitate the
raising of rates, Needless to say, such a move would cause a huge
outcry amongst Aucklanders (of which I am one) especially when there
are no apparent benefits to be gained from hanging on to the shares
apart from that convenient corporate word "strategic".
I hold AIA shares and the brokers I have spoken to are unanimous that
the price can be expected to rapidly soar upon a sell decision (or even
beforehand depending on public understanding of the issues). I totally
agree that the Auckland City Council will and has to sell its AIA
shares. As a ratepayer, I look forward to it but as an investor, I am
brassed off and should have got some more shares before tonight.
