[sharechat] AIA, Ak City Council & Treasury

I live on the North Shore and I remember Changi paying $2.90 a share
for our local city council's stake in AIA at a time when the shares
were trading at $2.80. And was our council rapt then! From memory
again, the sale was organised through PricewaterhouseCoopers but don't
take my word for it.
At tomorrow's meeting, I understand also that the Auckland City
Council will be having someone from Treasury explain to them about the
sale process after which the councillors will adjourn to discuss and
vote on the issue. Having worked in a council before, inevitably in
such cases, the doubters will always listen to an "outsider" rather
than one of their own. And because the big guns have been dragged in
from Treasury, I too think it's just about a foregone conclusion that
the Council will sell. Thanks for the analysis Frank.
