20th January 2022 Morning Report

U.S. market ended lower on Wednesday while U.S. Treasury yields hovered around 1.85%, the highest level since 2020. 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed - 0.34%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.14% and 0.09%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed higher as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.35%), the Dax 30 (+0.24%), CAC 40 (+0.55%) and the STOXX (+0.25%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-2.80%), HSI (+0.06%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.33%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.83, while the 2 - year note was at 1.025%. Oil was up to $88.09 per barrel, up 1.71%. The gold price was at US$1842.86 per ounce, up 1.56%.
