7th January 2022 Morning Report

U.S. stock markets ended mixed on Thursday as the treasury yield kept marching higher.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed - 0.36%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.12% and 0.15%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed lower as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.88%), the Dax 30 (-1.35%), CAC 40 (-1.72%) and the STOXX (-1.53%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-2.88%), HSI (+0.72%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.25%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.73%, while the 2 - year note was at 0.882%. Oil was up to $82.22 per barrel, up 0.75%. The gold price was at US$1788.22 per ounce, down 1.21%.
