April 29th Morning Report

US markets closed higher on Friday, buoyed by a rally in megacap growth stocks following robust quarterly results from technology heavyweights Alphabet an Microsoft in addition to moderate inflation data. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.40%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 1.02% and 2.02% respectively.

Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.75%), the Dax 30 (+1.36%), CAC 40 (+0.89%) and the STOXX (+1.37%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.81%), HSI (+2.12%) and the Shanghai Composite (+1.17%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.663%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.993%. Oil was up to $83.66 per barrel, down 0.23%. The gold price was at US$2349.60 per ounce, up 0.10%.
