7th March 2022 Morning Report

US markets closed lower on Friday as the Russia-Ukraine war overshadowed the market while the euro plunged on the worsening European economic outlook. 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.53%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.79% and 1.66%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-3.48%), the Dax 30 (-4.41%), CAC 40 (-4.97%) and the STOXX (-4.96%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended lower. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-2.23%), HSI (-2.50%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.96%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.738%, while the 2 - year note was at 1.49%. Oil was up to $111.3 per barrel, down 1.49%. The gold price was at US$1970.67 per ounce, up 1.76%.
