November 7th Morning Report

US markets closed higher on Wednesday, as Republican Donald Trump won the 2024 US presidential election in a remarkable comeback four years after he was voted out of the White House.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 3.62%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 2.57% and 2.96%.

Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.07%), the Dax 30 (-0.56%), CAC 40 (-0.51%) and the STOXX (-1.43%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+2.61%), HSI (-2.23%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.094%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.431%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.272%. Oil was up to $71.73 per barrel, down 0.18%. The gold price was at US$2598.90 per ounce, down 2.74%.
