US markets closed lower on Thursday as hotter-than-expected economic data eased worries about a recession without raising fears of a Federal Reserve rate hike next week, while Arm Holdings soared in its stock market debut. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.20%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.12% and 0.29% respectively.
Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+1.95%), the Dax 30 (+0.97%), CAC 40 (+1.19%) and the STOXX (+1.33%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed lower. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+1.41%), HSI (+0.21%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.11%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.29%, while the 2 - year note was at 5.016%. Oil was down to $90.76 per barrel, up 2.53%. The gold price was at US$1932.00 per ounce, down 0.03%.
