Hi Allan and other Sharechatters You are not alone - thankfully xtra's antivirus system is doing a good job of blocking most of these before they hit. I have received several of these over the past week along with a number of advice notices from my ISP that they have detected a virus in an incoming message. I agree, these virus writers really do need to get a life. Was amazed to read that the kid caught in the states for writing a variant of the Blaster worm was supported by his parents and believes the US Government is "out to get him" or "make an example of him" or some such thing. This is just terrorism on another level that looks as if it will continue to get much worse as software becomes more and more complex. Anti-virus software writers cannot keep up and heaps of damage is being done before they get solutions/patches out to the general populace - the cost is absolutely phenomenal in terms of IT personnel time and business disruption. Certainly adds significantly to the costs of conducting business which in turn reduces both funds for reinvestment in business and returns to shareholders. Anyone with a surefire solution to the problem will probably be able to exceed the wealth of Bill Gates if they can get their solution to market quickly enough. Some good opportunities for a real whiz kid rather than wasting their time (and everyone else's) with writing the damn things. It was addressed to Liz@bossleyarchitects.co.nz. The heading was Re: Your application and contained a pif. attachement which, I'm told is a WORM. Specifically a W32.Sobig.F@mm worm. The trouble is that some other worm sent it, not me. I've not sent any such messages, and since it was a NZ message, I have to assume that someone is useing the Sharechat site names to trick people into opening this fradulent mail. Please do not open any such messages from me or anyone else. Some people really should get a life. > > Allan > > > > > _______________________________________________ > Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com > The most personalized portal on the Web! > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- > To remove yourself from this list, please use the form at > http://www.sharechat.co.nz/chat/forum/ > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To remove yourself from this list, please use the form at http://www.sharechat.co.nz/chat/forum/
