Hydrogen as a direct input is pie in the sky. It
may well produce nice clean energy but it has to come from somewhere, and be
transportable to where it is needed.
My understanding is that the methanol/ethanol route
as an on site feed for fuel cells is more likely. These can be produced readily
from natural gas or biomass in the future and transported safely. Both are
easily diluted with water to produce a safe low/non flammable result that
precautions may be only the need to surround the tank with a water
jacket.
