THE outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome is biting into the 
earnings of Australian casinos that cater to Asian high-roller gamblers.
Casinos on the Gold Coast, and in Perth and Melbourne report fewer 
international patrons since the advent of SARS.
Asia is the major source of the big-spending high-rollers.
As casinos grapple with the prospect of fewer Asian patrons for weeks to 
come, the domestic custom they were relying to help stem some of the losses 
is also under threat.

Many stocks are likely to be devastated by the effects of SARS, but 
fortunately gold is nicely upward bound once again.
