I have recently read 'The New Buffetology' in
which an entire chapter is devoted to
the resons why one should not invest in
commodities. I'm sure Buffet followers are
familiar with this anti-commodity
stance.
It is well known that Warren Buffet himself has
purchased around 130m ounces
of silver in the late nineties . Current above
ground silver stocks are estimated at
500m ounces. Buffet owns 26% of above ground
silver (Jan2003)
Obviously Buffet is speculating in silver
(commodities) along with other well
known investors (Gates, Soros)
This decade we are currently in could be a good
time to put the Buffet/Graham
books back on the shelf and take a closer look at
commodities/raw materials.
