I have recently read ' The New
Buffetology' in which an entire chapter is devoted to the
reasons
why one should not invest in commodities. I'm
sure Buffet followers are familiar with this
anti-commodity stance.
It is a well known that Warren Buffet
himself has purchased around 130m ounces of silver
in the late nineties. Current above ground silver
stocks are estimated at 500m ounces.
Buffet owns 26% of above ground silver (Jan
2003)
Obviously Buffet is speculating in silver
(commodities) along with other well known
investors (Gates, Soros)
This decade we are currently in could be a good
time to put the Buffet/Graham books
back on the shelf and take a closer look at
commodities/raw materials.
