The recent profit forecast announcement by Wakefield Hospital is a timely reminder about the ethics of the directors of some companies listed on the New Zealand Sharemarket. Is NZ still the wild west? To announce that the directors' forecasted profits, as stated in the prospectus 'could be' 50 percent out after just two months into the life of the listing is a total disgrace. The director's must have known that their business forecasts were suspect, or if they did not the management and advisers to the company needs to be questioned. Furthermore, to learn that some people loosely associated with the company were selling script soon after listing is of further concern. What is of even further concern is the fact that this compny operates in the medical arena where ethics are suppose to be 'whiter than the driven snow'.
