Hi Mike

Why would you need to buy expensive charting software, when there are so many
good charting sites available free ... like Stocknessmonster and Equis and
Stockhouse? Admittedly, they don't create beautiful, clear charts with their
nifty trendlines, like Phaedrus's wonderful charts (with which you also need
Phaedrus' wonderful experience to interpret them), but they do feed into the
market live (Stocknessmonster) or almost live (delayed 20 minutes, at most).
ASB Securities website have great facility to "create your own NZ
portolio" , as well as AUS portfolio, with the values showing all the
percentage changes from what you paid for shares as the market trades. To
access this, you need to be a client, but they are terrific discount brokers ,
esp in filling orders below limits, and getting in touch if they can't fill
complete orders at stated limits. And they are very friendly and helpful to
new traders, and sympathetic with mistakes made by those new to the game.
