The fix might work in 5% of the virus cases.  Most viruses have their own sending mechanism and don't have friendly 'unable to send' messages.

 

Installing this might make you feel safe, but your aren't.

 

Being complacent is a very bad attitude when it comes to email viruses.  Your best bet is to keep your software at the latest release version from Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) *AND* install a reliable virus detector *AND* keep the virus list updated *AND* don't click on any attachment unless you are absolutely sure the person who sent it to you intended to do so.

I received that email, not the same as yours though and I understood it and tried it and it actually works, open address book , click new contact put in something like virus detect as the name, don't put an email address in, then you will be asked this contact does not have an email address do you want to add it, click yes, then try and send a message to this and it won't go, if this happens for no reason as under normal circumstances you won't use this address then you know you have a virus on your computer and at least it hasn't been sent to everyone in your address book, the sad thing is it means you have a virus and you will have to get rid of it.

Hope you understand these instructions, the email you had received made it sound all complicated.
