Have you considered Keir Neilson's Platinum Capital Ltd?

 

Briefly, a global value investor domiciled on ASX; a stock picker not afraid to swim upstream - held short positions in USA from '99 that hurt performance before coming good November last. (but note, they are still short many US stocks)

 

A strong performance this year but check out historical PE and yield; could be another strong year ahead or at worst not much downside.

 

Their 2001 result should be on the web by now at www.platinum.com.au and well worth a glance at least.

Thanks for your comments. It is difficult to find even 5 decent size NZ companies with a future, to invest in.

 

I did say that I was looking for a share investment in GB. Stock pickers do see opportunities everywhere, even in a world with poor growth prospects.

 

It is their job to be informed, they don't tend to rely on brokers' analysts alone. I have been doing so for a number of years and found it stimulating! 

 

Then again, a company with HQ in GB but with business in Europe, can be attractive. 

 

Everybody has a modus operandi and I am really happy when another ' big fish ' is hooked. But to ensure that one does not become too arrogant, one will have to accept losses!
