Great discussion so far, really glad to see the piece has generated some
comment, thanks for your responses, ryanrite, Snoopy, Ian, Nick and others -
great to hear your differing opinions. We are going to link to all of the
forum responses at the end of the article so readers can follow the discussion
and hear the other arguments.
Just a quick response to ryanrite though, please don't think that I'm
excusing the Board of Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines etc for a minute.
because they certainly have a lot to answer for as well (Snoopy wrote some
great posts on the Board, Chairman etc a few days ago). However, the NZ
government did stall in its decision making process and, as we have now found
out, this dithering has proved almost fatal. Certainly there are many
parties to blame.
I look forward to the continued discussion!
Best Regards
Ben Dutton

Hi Hans,
Thanks for your support. This is something I feel quite strongly
about, hence my "opinion" piece. Here's the link to the story for
others that are not on NewsAlert:

Just read Ben Dutton's comments on the above disaster, I
totally agree with his comments and would suggest
a copy is forwarded to all Australian newspapers it
may help to restore some of NZ's credibility in the eyes of
the Australian Public. It will be a long time before the
culprits "our Government and the Boards of Air
NZ,Brierley
and Singapore Airlines" can be trusted again.
