Re
Frucor
As
someone employed on the fringes of the soft drink industry, I'd like to add my
comments.
Frucor are in a very fast
moving and dynamic market. Trendy drinks
come and go with frightening regularity.
There are few barriers to entry for small niche players - get lucky with a
product that takes off and you are "in the money" - at least for a
while.
Longer term, the major players with the distribution
systems, marketing clout and smart logistics will dominate. Frucor are a small
niche player.
Where is the logic and what is sustainable about making
sugary drinks in a sexy package in New
Zealand?
(But then what is so smart about sugar, phosphoric
acid, and colour in COKE?).
Answer: COKE are smart at marketing and logistics and
operate on a massive scale.
Unless Frucor can cut a deal with a world class
Marketing and logistics player, I can't a sustainable future and would say
SELL.
JEM
(Disclosure: don't and won't hold frucor
shares).
