Here is an Aussie Brokers reply to my request to participate in one of their IPOs. ----- The problem relates to one of jurisdiction of the ASX and the laws relating to the distribution of prospectuses in international jurisdictions. The ASX does not purport and cannot purport to hold any jurisdiction over the international issue of a prospectus registered in Australia. Hence the conservative approach to avoid breach of law relating to non-Aust markets. There are particular problems relating to the issue of shares to US investors and therefore no such applications will be accepted. Provided the following conditions are likely to have been met your application will be accepted; Applicant is an Australian citizen, or resident in Australia or is physically in Australia at the time of application. Similar conditions exist for all past and future IPO issues. I hope this assists in clarifying the issue. ---- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Deb Anderson" <deb.a@pop.ihug.co.nz> To: <sharechat@sharechat.co.nz> Sent: Monday, September 11, 2000 2:19 PM Subject: [sharechat] ASX > Hi, > > Who can tell me about any legalities re ASX trading, or participating in > ASX new issues? > Thanks > > Deb > > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- > http://www.sharechat.co.nz/ New Zealand's home for market investors > http://www.netbroker.co.nz/ Trade on Credit, Low Brokerage.
