Congratulations Russell and Brad. You made the best choice for you.

However, be of stout heart Kiwis. Anyone of a dozen people can skipper
the yacht. Anyone of three or four can navigate it. The key is the
designer. If you lose the best designer, you lose the cup; as simple as
that.

If a foreigner comes up with megabucks for the top designer you are
toast.

It amazes me the appeals to patriotism I have read on the internet.
Auckland wants the cup for the dough it brings in. Russell and Brad have
made the same decision for themselves. If they had lost the cup you can
bet the NZ public would have turned them into mincemeat. You can also
bet the NZ public ain't going to support them when they retire so they
are making hay while the sun shines.

The original spirit of the cup is gone anyway (as it is in most sports
including the New Generation Undetectable Steroid Games this year in
Sydney). ie country against country: all personel and equipment being
'state of origin'.

Two things won the cup last year:

1.      Boat design
2.      Local wind knowledge 

Both can be bought and will be if enough money is offered.
