Yes, an interesting scenario has developed with MON.  Lion Nathan's defensive move to block Fosters from gaining Montana and its distribution network seems to have worked.

"Fosters has indicated it will not challenge Lion" says the NZ Herald.

But LNN also don't seem interested in gaining full control of the MON.

Even though Peter Masfen believes Montana is undervalued, here's a quote from the AFR "Salomon Smith Barney analyst Mr Clyde D'Souza said $NZ2.30 per share was "a full price", with his valuation at $NZ2.10 on a discounted cash flow basis, and $NZ2.38 on a sum-of-the-parts valuation".

So, to sell or not to sell?  I think you'll have to decide that one yourself Nick :)

Subject: [sharechat] Montana...... The dilemma

Very interesting day for all us montana shareholders, question
is what to do.
My broker at j.b.weres wasnt much help, the price of 2.30 is approaching their
valuation of the stock but he wasnt advising me to sell.  He thought that
once lion ghad purchased the shares they are after the price could fall back
a little.
However there would not bew many left to sell, anybody who wants out can do
so now for 2.30 so i suspect the price is going to remain around that price , may
even go higher.
I also hold gpg and this cannot be bad for them. They wont have much
influence but only paid an average of 2.06 for their shares so shoiuld do ok
out of it.
I confess to having an unhealthy attachment to montana, it was the first
stock i ever bought and i have been topping up ever since. Im loathe to sell
them and iin the long run i suspect it will be better to stay in for the ride.
Question is could i sell now and dive back in at a lower price.
i was expecting this forum to be full of montana talk, but as usual
aql and itc are dominating the chat (will they ever learn?)
