The best one that I know would be the usenet group nz.politics.  you may 
need to set your browser up for it (just point it to your isp's news 
server), but if it's already going, try clicking on news://nz.politics.

For discussion of off-topic but related matters we do also have the General 
message board, http://www.sharechat.co.nz/cgi-bin/msgboards/board_show.pl?id=5
We still won't tolerate bad language, insults, etc. there, but you're 
welcome to discuss say financial matters..
