Re: [sharechat] THL -Reply

You have a very good point Hugh, I remember hearing from someone last
night that now that there are no USA entries in the Cup the Americans
have lost interest completely. Somehow that doesn't surprise me! :) But
nonetheless, I assume that they (and other countries) will have enough
pride left to at least compete for the next Cup event, which will reignite
their interest, and, IF it is back here in NZ, our tourism industry can only
benefit from that increased exposure in the future. Other countries might
lose interest for now, but after the Cup is over (assuming NZ wins for
sake of argument) then the position is no different to the way it was
after the last Cup, ie NZ will be the next to host it and should stand to
benefit from that. I guess time will tell. In the meantime, I'm more than
happy to sit tight and stay with THL regardless of the outcome with the
Cup. Actually I have very little interest in the Cup itself but it could only
improve THL's fortunes even more in the medium term if we win.

Cheers, H.

I agree with you on what THL should be doing but tourist shares have
always been very reluctant performers - take hotels, airlines &.
On the America's Cup I wouldn't agree with you. First major bad news;
America whatever loses to Prada. Most American's immediately lose
interest and massively reduce news coverage and visiting.
Second bad news Prada loses first race by miles and whitewash to
NZ looks in prospect. Immediate loss of interest by Italians and other
European
countries. I went into the Le Monde website while Le Defi was still in it
and America's Cup was the top sports news out of 5 items. No longer.
Call it what you will but let's be realistic. Same as NZ getting into a
one day cricket event finals in Oz - the kiss of death.
So I wouldn't hang out on that one.

Derek Watts; good to see the news item about a Genesis purchase on
OneBusiness
News site yesterday. Genesis - the one ignored by the tech hotheads
who are
into
SPE and SVY and anything else that moves with rumour attached.
Can't resist the occasional stir.

au rev,
Hugh
