Re: [sharechat] Re the reference to investing in Funds
Hi Hugh:
I'm picking this thread up after being away for a spell. I've read Mary
Buffett's book and found it fascinating. The philosophy is so simple ( until
you get to the number crunching). I'm plowing through Ben Graham's
"Intelligent Investor" at present. Really need to be on sabbatical to do it
justice. "Bogle on Mutual Funds" by Vanguard's founder is another
interesting read. The Motley Fools (www.fools.com) are another great source
of sound investment advice.
Regarding active vs passive funds most of the standard issue investment
books in NZ advise that one should have a % of their investment offshore. If
this is true, and I believe it is, then how does one best invest offshore.
Direct investment into individual overseas stocks, mutual funds which
specialize in international equities or international index funds such as
AMP's WiNZ?
I'm interested to know how many subscribers to this forum invest overseas,
what % of their portfolio is overseas and what vehicle they have used to
make their investment.
Comments? Cheers, Brian
