[sharechat] Selectivity & Positivity v Negativity

Some critics have decried what they see as negativity because people
have picked a few holes in the fad of the moment. I prefer to see it as
separating the gold dust from the gravel. Similarly with investment
techniques; I think analysis based on relevant company data beats
momentum investing, groupie following and charting hands down because
you can point to hard economic data and logical deductions as the basis for
your
decision making.
I'd also point out that I think I've been very positive in putting all my
investment
in the sharemarket bar our house and a relatively small amount in 100%
subsidised
super.

With this in mind I'd like to offer 2 positives from today's Sunday
Star-Times, one re
Sausage Software and one re Genesis. (page E6).
I'd like to point out that Sausage is one of the few techs that switched
from losses
to substantial profit and in a deal since the start of this calendar year
it bought SMS
Consulting which came with $A120 million in extra earnings. "Sausage has
been recognised
as one of the world's fastest and smartest technology companies, receiving
a special award
at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Sausage was invited to
attend a
series of meeetings at the forum dedicated
to greater understanding of the role technology plays in shaping society
and the global economy....".
SMS was the 14th deal Wayne Bos has made since coming on board Sausage.
Disclosure: I hold Sausage Software Shares - 40% bought at $A0.65 and 60%
at $A2.70.
Sausage closed at $A5.30 and has been as high as $A5.95. The chairman
predicted they
would go to $A10.00 in the AFR last year....

I mention Genesis here (and I don't hold any shares in them) because they
actually have some
sort of concrete foundation unlike say SPE and AQL.
Genesis has just got permission from the US FDA Admin to start phase 2
clinical trials of psoriasis vaccine PVAC ( the culmination of 5 years
laboratory and clinical work) and 6 months of regulatory
processes.Psoriasis affects 1% to 3% of the world's population.
It also is involved in developing an asthma drug with Wgtn's Malaghan
Institute. Gen has 100 staff, half of them scientists from more than a
dozen different countries.
Genesis has moved from $2.90 at the start of the month to $4. Its
development partner in the US, Corixa rose 88% in the month to $US32.
Cavill White says if Genesis logically moved in tandem then it would be
worth $12. Genesis last year announced plans to list on the NASDAQ.
That's what I see as positivity. Wouldn't it be great to see a discussion
about Genesis displacing SPE and AQL?
cheers,
Hugh
