6th January 2022 Morning Report

U.S. stock markets closed lower on Wednesday as the latest numbers of U.S. workers leaving their job hits a record high.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed - 0.60%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 1.22% and 2.38%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed higher as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.16%), the Dax 30 (+0.74%), CAC 40 (+0.81%) and the STOXX (+0.83%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended lower. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.10%), HSI (-1.64%) and the Shanghai Composite (-1.02%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.701%, while the 2 - year note was at 0.834%. Oil was up to $80.60 per barrel, up 0.75%. The gold price was at US$1812.67 per ounce, down 0.06%.
