The airline's managing director Robert Inglis today said the two new ATR-72 aircraft, leased from a German airline, will operate under the Nelson-based airline's code share agreement with Qantas.
Regional general manager Peter Collins said the planes would more than double the number of seats offered by Qantas on key routes, helping its development of New Zealand's inbound visitor markets.
Mr Inglis said the new aircraft meant another 20 jobs, taking total staff numbers to 370, including those within Origin Pacific's sister company Horizon Air Support.
The ATRs will be used mainly on the tourist routes -- Christchurch-Rotorua and Christchurch-Queenstown -- but will also mean extra capacity on Wellington-Christchurch services.
The new aircraft, due to arrive in New Zealand on July 15, will take Origin Pacific's fleet to 15 turboprop aircraft.
