For the six months ended September the company has returned a surplus of $66,000 compared with last year's $470,000 loss. Revenue rose to $6.817 million from $4.171 million previously.
SOE says the two main contributors to the strong revenue growth were sales to dental practices in the UK and institutional sales in Australia, the US and Asia.
The company says the UK market has consolidated to two or three major players with Software of Excellence leading the field.
"Our unit sales volume over the last 12 months has jumped dramatically to about double that of the previous 12 months," the board says.
Although professional sales continued to be slow in Australia and no further marketing expansion is planned for Singapore, the directors say they are happy with the company's progress in the USA.
"Being selected by UCLA in California will raise the group's profile in the USA and provide the company's solution a substantial boost.
"The contract with UCLA has been signed and work is progressing. Other projects are being pursued in the USA and further successes are expected."
SOE has not seen any evidence of sales slowing since the September 11 attacks in the US but says it is too early to be sure what the effects might be.
"A slow down in the global economy and in particular the UK, could easily have a dramatic impact on our 2002 financial results, and timing of large Enterprise projects continues to be difficult to predict."
In its prospectus the company forecast a 2002 profit of $2.4 million profit, rising to $4.6 million in 2003.
