UK liquor group Allied Domecq has asked the NZ Stock Exchange to rule on the way rival bidder Lion Nathan plans to sell down its stake in winemaker Montana Group.

Allied said it believed Lion was trying to get around an NZSE order to sell 19% of Montana as redress for trading breaches in the way it acquired Montana shares during a takeover battle with Allied.
