U.S. stock ended higher on Monday as investors digested another batch of earnings and oil hit a seven-year high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 0.23% up, while the S&P 500 rose 0.53% and the Nasdaq Composite ended 0.88% higher. Both the Dow and the S&P 500 were trading at all-time highs.
Tesla crossed a $1 trillion market capitalization.
Other key overseas markets were mixed, France’s CAC 30 slid 0.31% while Germany’s DAX 30 and Britain’s FTSE 100 ended higher 0.36% and 0.25%, respectively. Japan’s Nikkei slid 0.71%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng inched up 0.02% and China’s Shanghai Composite rose 0.76%.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil jumped thirty-six cents to $84.12 a barrel while gold edged up $11.20 to $1,807.50 an ounce.
The US 10 year treasury note closed at 1.634%, while the 2 year treasury bill closed at 0.437%.
