The new division, OneCom, will focus exclusively on a system which uses new Cisco video and voice applications for the Internet, such as unified messaging and Internet Protocol-based soft-phones and call centres.
GDC marketing manager, Scott Forrest, says the system is a combination of software and hardware. He says by converging data, voice and video onto a single IP network the system will "do for multimedia what Microsoft Windows did for the computer desktop".
The offering has been developed in partnership with US computer network giant, Cisco.
GDC has appointed former Cisco New Zealand account manager Bruce Brown to head its new OneCom division.
"We are building a brilliant team that can deliver voice and video solutions that combine the benefits of standard telephone services, data communications and real time video all in a single customer network," says Mr Brown.
