July 21st Morning Report

US markets closed higher on Wednesday as traders turned to the exchange operator's investment-related products to navigate market volatility, helping drive up revenues. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 2.43%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 2.76% and 3.11% respectively.

Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.44%), the Dax 30 (-0.20%), CAC 40 (-0.27%) and the STOXX (-0.06%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+2.67%), HSI (+1.11%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.77%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 3.03%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.236%. Oil was down to $102.61 per barrel, down 1.54%. The gold price was at US$1709.60 per ounce, down 0.04%.
