US markets closed higher after a choppy session on Monday, with delines in energy companies, as investors digested the US stock market's biggest monthly gains in two years. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.14%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.28% and 0.18% respectively.
Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.13%), the Dax 30 (-0.03%), CAC 40 (-0.18%) and the STOXX (+1.49%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.69%), HSI (+0.05%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.21%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 2.588%, while the 2 - year note was at 2.886%. Oil was up to $93.98 per barrel, down 4.70%. The gold price was at US$1789.40 per ounce, up 0.43%.
