The timing is in line with the start of the company's new financial year and means that DB Group will be amalgamating with its wholly owned subsidiary DB Breweries Limited.
"The change of name reflects the fact that, following the sale of Corbans Wines Limited and NZ Liquor Limited, and the closure of Allied Liquor Merchants Limited, DB Group is no longer a "group" of companies, and that the focus is totally on DB Breweries Limited, and its franchising operation of Liquorland," the company says.
The brewer's stock exchange code will also change, from DBG to DBB.
"The name DB Breweries Limited is well known throughout New Zealand, and internationally.
"It has been associated with the brewing, marketing and distribution of quality beer since 1929, when Dominion Breweries commenced production at the present site in Otahuhu, Auckland."
The amalgamation is expected to provide some further overhead cost savings.
