US markets closed lower on Tuesday as week earnings from Goldman Sachs dragged the index lower, but a jump in Tesla shares helped keep the benchmark S&P 500 and Nasdaq near the unchanged mark. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 1.06%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.13% and up 0.19% respectively.
Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.12%), the Dax 30 (+0.35), CAC 40 (+0.48%) and the STOXX (+0.42%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+1.23%), HSI (-0.78%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.10%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 3.537%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.196%. Oil was up to $81.11 per barrel, up 1.57%. The gold price was at US$1912.30 per ounce, down 0.49%.
