Rural services firm Williams & Kettle (NZSE: WKL) is hopping aboard the dairy train, expanding its livestock business in Waikato.

The company has bought Livestock Enterprises, an established livestock business with 25 agents working mostly within the North Island.

Chairman, John Bayly, says the acquisition will considerably strengthen the company's dairy livestock expertise.

"The transaction will increase W&K's exposure to the dairy industry which represents a growing client base for the company.

"Additionally, W&K recently established a specialist dairy centre based in Carterton to meet the needs of dairy farmers in the Wairarapa. The support that this initiative has received from local farmers had been encouraging.

Mr Bayly says he expects the purchase of the Waikato business to provide substantial cross-selling benefits for the company.
