British Telecom has appointed Peter Kaliaropoulos, head of commercial operations at Singapore's StarHub Pte Ltd, chief executive of Clear Communications.
Mr Kaliaropoulos will replace Tim Cullinane, who returns to BT at the end of the month.
StarHub, which is 18% owned by BT, is a new entrant to the Singaporean market, offering fixed and wireless telephony and internet and broadband services. Mr Kaliaropoulos was seconded there from BT.
He will arrive shortly before the ministerial inquiry into telecommunications headed by Hugh Fletcher reports to the minister. Its recommendations are expected to lead to major changes in the telecommunications regulatory environment.
