The 2 MoorMaster 400 automated mooring units will be constructed in Christchurch and installed in Picton providing an automatic mooring solution for Toll's new InterIslander ship the "Kaitaki". The 180m "Kaitaki" is 30m longer than the Interislander's other passenger ferries and can carry 1600 passengers, 600 cars and 1600 lane-metres of freight.
This sale to Toll represents the second MoorMaster 400 installation in Picton across two separate berths. The first installation of MoorMaster in Picton was completed in September 2003 providing an automatic mooring for the Interislander ferry "Aratere".
Peter Montgomery, ceo of MSL said "We are very pleased to be working with Toll on this project and we are absolutely committed to providing Toll with a high quality automated mooring solution in Picton".
