State-controlled electricity generator and retailer MightyRiverPower has attracted one of New Zealand's most globally experienced marketing experts, Andy Lark, to its board, adding heft following the signing of former Transpower chief executive, Patrick Strange, to governance duties earlier this year.
Awarded the inaugural New Zealander of the Year Award, Lark served as chief marketing officer for US online computer retailer Dell, and more recently as CMO at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the country's largest.
He is already a director of NZX-listed retail data analytics firm SLI Software and of the venture capital fund, No 8 Ventures.
“At a time when we are seeing opportunities in our industry to innovate and use technology to drive benefits for consumers, it is fantastic to have a Kiwi joining our Board with this sort of global experience in marketing and online across business-to-business and consumer sectors, as well as a strong record in emerging technologies.”
Lark's appointment returned the MRP board to an "appropriate complement" of eight directors. Lark and Strange will require re-election by shareholders at MRP's second annual meeting since 49 percent of the company was privatised in a share float in May 2013.
MRP shares were trading unchanged at $2.26 on the NZX this morning, compared with $2.34 a year ago and a listing price of $2.50.
