The listed energy company says it will buy gas from Greymouth produced through the Kaimiro Production station in Taranaki and anticipates that the sales agreement will continue for "a number of years."
Contact boss, Steve Barrett, says the company is pleased with the agreement, which will augment existing supplies of gas in the period up to the depletion of the Maui Field.
He says the deal is part of a strategy of accumulating supplies of gas from independent producers in the Taranaki area.
Initial deliveries of gas were made last week.
