The company, which operates brands such as New Zealand Couriers, Poste Haste Couriers and Document Destruction Services, recorded a profit of $4.75 million for the six months ended December.
Freightways is controlled by its sole ordinary shareholder Australian firm Ausdoc International but has around 1,400 preference shareholders.
Sales for the six month period rose to $89.7 million from $82.9 million the previous year.
"This outcome is very commendable given the highly competitive markets in which Freightways operates and the varying economic conditions that prevailed during the period reported," the company says.
