24th February 2022 Morning Report

US markets closed lower on Wednesday as Ukraine declared a state of emergency and a bigger clash between Russia Ukraine might be ahead. 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 1.06%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 1.38% and 1.92%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.05%), the Dax 30 (-0.42%), CAC 40 (-0.10%) and the STOXX (-0.30%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-1.71%), HSI (+0.60%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.93%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.974%, while the 2 - year note was at 1.60%. Oil was up to $96.54 per barrel, down 0.31%. The gold price was at US$1906.86per ounce, up 0.44%.
