Looking ahead, while the company is worried about the prospect of an Iraq war affecting tourism but said tourist numbers were currently running very strongly and barring international disruption was on track for a similar second half.
It said an all-time record for passengers handled in the international terminal building in any one week had been broken five times since January 1.
Since the start of the year, international passenger growth had been running at 8.7 percent.
It said it would have higher interest charges in the second half due to borrowings associated with its capital repayment "but despite this, given a continuation of the current level of international visitors and close control of expenses, a surplus after tax approximating the first half could well be achievable."
