Fisher & Paykel Healthcare has announced the appointment of Tony Carter as an independent, non-executive director.
"We are extremely pleased to welcome Tony to the board and believe that his engineering background and considerable business experience will add to the strength of our board," said chairman Gary Paykel.
Carter recently retired from his role as managing director of Foodstuffs New Zealand and has been a non-executive director of Vector since 2007, of Fletcher Building since September this year and will join the Air New Zealand board on December 1, 2010.
Carter's appointment is effective from December 1, 2010.
The company also announced Sir Colin Maiden has advised he will retire from the board on February 22, 2011.
"He has made an outstanding contribution to the company during his 32 years as a director and as a longstanding member of the audit and risk, nomination and remuneration committees," Paykel said.
"We wish him all the best for the future."
