The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) has announced the appointment of four senior managers following the restructuring of the Office which commenced in March this year.
The appointments are:
SFO chief executive Adam Feeley says the appointments were key to delivering on the SFO's objectives and represent the conclusion of the office's restructure.
"The first half of this year has been an extremely demanding one for SFO as we have implemented significant internal changes while also getting on top of numerous investigations.
"These appointments bring an impressive range of expert skills into the SFO, enabling us to deliver on our Statement of Intent."
Feeley says that in the past six months the SFO has completed 22 investigations; laid charges in respect of six cases; and secured convictions in seven other matters.
"The work of the SFO is not a volume game, but rather a focus on top-end, complex financial crimes."
He says with a new management team on board the SFO can now focus on investigating and prosecuting cases that go to the heart of investor confidence in our financial markets, and public confidence in the integrity of our legal system.
Marshall, SFO general counsel, was previously a partner at the Auckland Crown Solicitors, Meredith Connell, and prior to this has worked for the Police; Serious Fraud Office, and Privacy Commission.
McArley, SFO general manager, Financial Markets & Corporate Fraud, is currently the Director, Primary Markets at the Security Commission, and prior to this was Head of Regulation at the NZX, and a partner at Kensington Swan.
Paterson, SFO general manager, Fraud and Corruption, is currently Executive Director, Fraud Investigation at Ernst Young, and prior to that has worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers, McCallum Petterson in New Zealand, and the Financial Services Authority and Ernst Young in the UK.
Metcalfe, general manager, Fraud Detection and Intelligence, has 20 years of law enforcement experience with the SFO and the Police, and is currently a Supervising Senior at the SFO.
